Soprano Stacie Carmona has been described by the National Post as “…the whole package- voice, acting, and the kind of charisma that draws the eye…”. Praised by Opera Canada for her “…huge, thrilling, rich sound…” She made her professional debut with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bach Elgar Choir as the Soprano Soloist in Verdi’s Messa di Requiem.
A graduate of the Glenn Gould School, the University of Toronto’s Opera Division and Pacific Opera Victoria’s Resident Artist Program, Stacie has performed with the National Ballet of Canada, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Etobicoke Philharmonic, Opera York, the Canadian Opera Company Chorus, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra and Opera Oshawa. An avid performer of modern music, she performed the world premiere of Alan Smith’s `Vignettes: from George to Evelyn’, a cycle written for the late Phyllis Curtin’s 80th Birthday Gala at the Tanglewood Music Center Festival and the Canadian premiere of Charles Heller’s ‘Letters from Bozena’.
Some of Ms. Carmona’s recent performance highlights include the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and the Grand River Chorus, and the world premiere of Heller’s Hebrew Melodies. A regular performer with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus, Stacie has most recently performed in their productions of La Traviata, the Magic Flute, the Flying Dutchman, Carmen, and the Dora Award winning, David Vicar production of Verdi’s MacBeth.
Stacie is delighted to pass on her experience as a performer to her students. As a voice teacher, she enjoys helping students develop their talents, confidence, improve their vocal abilities and develop their own unique voice. Stacie taught voice and was the director of the Musical Theatre Program from 2010-2022 at the Music Studio in Etobicoke, where she continues to teach the Music Theatre Summer Program. She has directed abridged performances of Annie, Cats, the Sound of Music, Les Misérables, Wonka Jr., You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Oliver and the Wizard of Oz.
