July 2 – Aug 23rd – Final Dates TBD

Immerse yourself in Beyond the Beat’s recording and production studios and learn from some of Toronto’s most refined music production and engineering talent. In this five-day workshop, students will gain hands-on experience both in the recording studio and in the mixing lab. Working in pairs or trios, participants will cycle between class-style lecture periods, personalized recording sessions and group music production. Students will be assessed not only on their theoretical knowledge, but on their practical ability as well. The Recording and Production workshop will include various lectures as well as guest artist discussions and demonstration periods. A sample of these workshops is as follows:

-Collaborative Work

-Song Work

-Multitrack recording

-Modern record production

We highly recommend that students bring a laptop, Pro-Tools software as well as an interface and studio monitor. A microphone is also recommended, though not necessary. Students are recommended to register in pairs or trios, or we will assign a partner.

-Fully produced and professionally mixed track
-Thorough understanding of what it takes to transform your musical blueprint into an executed final product.
